
‘HTML5’ is a new standard in HTML, however the term is commonly used to refer to a suite of technologies:
HTML5 offers a powerful and open environment for interactive multimedia and application development. It has the potential to be ideal for education, with improved accessibility, high level industry support and the ability to create off-line applications, but until its implementation is more consistent in the commonly used browsers, and authoring tools exist for it, it is not ready for deployment in the VET sector.

The E-standards Expert Group continues to monitor the topic and will review the VET e-standards annually, including the progress of HTML5.
