Emerging Technology Trials

Since 2008, the E-standards for Training business activity, through the national training system’s e-learning strategy, the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework), has made funding available to registered training organisations (RTOs) for the trialling of emerging technologies.

The purpose of this annual funding opportunity is to explore emerging technologies and identify areas where future standards work may be required. The trials are also an important tool for identifying ways that the emerging technologies may be utilised in teaching and learning in the wider national training system.

The importance of this work is recognised, and continues under the National VET E-learning Strategy (the Strategy (Opens in new window)) with added focus on learning outcomes.

2012 Emerging Technology Trials funding

The New Generation Technology for Learning business activity (also known as E-standards for Training) is seeking co-investment applications for funding of up to $20,000 (plus GST) for Emerging Technology Trials that will increase VET sector's capacity to facilitate new ways of learning with technology, and result in positive educational outcomes.

Due to time constraints, the first stage of trials will take place over the three months between 1 March 2012 and 8 June 2012, but consideration will be given to a staged approach with the potential for additional funding in the second half of the year - contingent on funding availability and the calibre of the initial stage.

Applications have now closed.
