Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI)

DCMI was the first major international metadata standard for description of digital information, and forms the basis of many metadata applications since, such as the Australian Government Locator Service (AGLS) and the EdNA Metadata Standard. DCMI supports many specific interest communities including the DCMI Education Community and the DCMI Accessibility Community.

Web Services Interoperability (WS-I) Consortium

WS-I is an open industry organisation chartered to promote Web services interoperability across platforms, operating systems and programming languages. WS-I creates, promotes and supports generic protocols for the interoperable exchange of messages between Web services. The organisation's diverse community of Web services leaders helps customers to develop interoperable Web services by providing guidance, recommended practices and supporting resources.
