ARED is designed to allow practitioners with basic computer skills to build their own e-learning resources using six dynamic templates. The templates are based on interactions that are commonly used in e-learning and remove the need for practitioners to learn the multimedia skills commonly required to build such resources. The resources can be run in standard web browsers on standard desktop platforms.

The VET Reload Tool can be used to create IMS and SCORM 1.2 content packages and corresponding VET metadata (Vetadata). It is based on the Reload (Opens in new window) tool developed by CETIS in the UK, and has been customised for the Australian VET sector.
Existing VET Reload users may want to view information on the changes to the VET Reload tool made in December 2009 (Opens in new window).

The Vetadata Tool is a stand-alone tool for creating metadata that conforms to Vetadata for IMS 1.1.4 or Vetadata for SCORM 1.2/Toolbox objects.

Web Accessibility Toolbar (Opens in new window) Vision Australia's Web Accessibility Toolbar has been developed to aid manual examination of web pages for a variety of aspects of accessibility. It consists of a range of functions that identify components of a web page, facilitate the use of 3rd party online applications, simulate user experiences and provide links to references and additional resources
W3C markup validation service (Opens in new window) The W3C markup validation service checks HTML and XHTML documents for conformance to W3C Recommendations and other standards. The Extended Interface option can be used to check compliance to a specific standard such as HTML 4.01.
The W3C CSS validation service (Opens in new window) The W3C CSS Validation Service is a free service that checks CSS Style Sheets. You can specify whether to check against Level 1 or Level 2 CSS as well as other options. http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
ADL Test Suite (Opens in new window) If you are creating SCORM 1.2 content, you should test your SCORM packages with this tool to ensure compliance with the SCORM 1.2 specification. Java 1.5 is required for accurate results. Advanced users may also wish to replace the generic ADL Test Suite schemas with the Vetadata for SCORM schema.

Framework Content Package Player v1.4.6 (Opens in new window) (32KB) October 2009 The Framework Content package player enables content packaged e-learning content to be played in a web browser without requiring any additional software. The current version (released on 6 October 2009) resolves an IE8 incompatibility issue. MS Internet Explorer versions 6, 7 and 8 are supported with this release.
